Fourth of July

Fourth of July
By: Claudia Bradford

As the sun fell and
the stars rose,
I turned to see the moon
as its face reflects onto the water.

Smiling back at me.

Walking on the sand
hearing the squeak of my steps,
and the loud boom and crackle
of the fireworks.
Flashes of sparkle
come from the sky.
What a beautiful sight.
Something no one could deny

What a great night,
on the Fourth of July.

Techniques Used:
1) Personnification - "I turned to see the moon/as its face reflects onto the water." "Smiling back at me."
2) Onomatopoeia - "hearing the squeak of my steps, / and the loud boom and crackle"
3) End Rhyme - crackle & sparkle, sky & deny, deny & july
4) Euphony - In the first stanza
5) Sibilance - sun, stars, see, face, reflects, smiling, sand...
